About this site |
This site is the culmination of many family records, many internet searches, and many forays to family history libraries. When I started, I really had no idea what I was doing and, unfortunately, my records still bare the marks of naive record keeping and hasty linkages. I have since learned to be more careful, but some of these tenuous links remain.
I am forever on the lookout for new tools and organizational techniques. Both for the electronic organization of data, and for the organization of my family history documents and mementos. The site you are currently viewing was created using a package of scripts that were written by Darren Lythgoes, called "The Next Generation of Genealogy Site Building" or, TNG for short.
While TNG has many useful tools and, can be used as the sole "repository" of family history data, I also use The Master Genealogist as my primary tool for capturing, organizing and working with my family history. I have used Family Tree Maker, which may, in fact be a bit easier to begin working from, but at the time I switched, I felt that TMG had better web-publishing options. That may or may not currently be the case. |

First and foremost, to my wife, Larrain and children without whom, I would not be inspired to work on this. Secondly, I would not have been able to start this history had it not been for my mother and father's interest in genealogy. They collected notes, pictures, and historical information throughout their lives. It was passed onto me and I am grateful to have these mementos, though, at the time when we had to sit in the back of the car, while my did did family history research at the Salt Lake City Genealogy Library seemed excruciating, at the time (on return trips, we had the luxury of playing in the park!)
To my grandmother Lenore, and her mother, Hattie for writing out their remembrances and family records. To my Great Aunt Vivian for her wonderful information and family history of the Smith's. To my great Uncle Eddie for detailing much of the family history of the Hawkins.
Finally, to the members this community, family and otherwise, who have taken the time to look around, send me notes, and make suggestions about the contents herein.
I hope you find something interesting here. I strongly believe this type of information should be freely available and shared -- not the "property" of a family history moneymaking corporation --so, if you see information here that you'd like a copy of, by all means, take it, or ask me; maybe I can convert it to a format you'd like. But please don't sell it.
There are many ways you can control the presentation of these data. Have a look around, try some of the reports, and let me know how it goes for you.
