Luxembourg became an independent entity in 963 under Siegfried, Count of
Ardenne {-Encyc.Brit.,'56,14:502}. W.H.Turton, "The Plantagenet Ancestry"
(Balt.:Gen.Pub.Co.,1968), p. 172, 181, gives descent from him through
Thibault I, Count of Bar-Le-Duc [ID4483]; Turton gives Siegfried's wife as
Edith of Longwy (Edith = Hedwig). Siegfried was Count, 965-998.Count married Nordgau, Hedwig of on Yes, date unknown. Hedwig (daughter of Hohenbugh, Eberhard IV of and Tries, Luitgarde of) was born before 972. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

Identified by W.H.Turton, "The Plantagenet
Ancestry"(Balt.:Gen.Pub.Co.,1968),p.172, as Siegfried I, Count of
Luxemburg, married to Lidivive of Suabia. He gives Siegfried I as son of
Voiry, Count d'Ardennes, and wife Cunigunde [ID4263]. However, "Ancestral
Roots... (Balt., 1992) 143-19 shows Siegfried I as son of Richwin
(Ricuinus)!married Cunegonde about 920. Cunegonde (daughter of Ermentrude, of France) was born in 890. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

Louis II was crowned by Hincmar, Archbishop of Reims, 8 Dec 877, and
consecrated again in 09-878 by Pope John VIII. His reign was "ineffectual."
By his first wife, Ansgarde, a Burgundian princess, he had his successors,
sons Louis III and Carloman. Louis III reigned 879-882. Carloman reigned
879 until this death, 12 Dec 884. This brough his half-brother, a child of
